10/31/13, Earth Time: 06:00 AM, EST, Thursday: – 02/12/13 past post of 'The Odyssey of This Writer'

02/12/13
As promised: my blog part 3 - The Odyssey of this Writer. Here's the link: http://fritz-franke.tumblr.com/. Posted once a week and kept short. Follow if you dare & click if you like for a heckava ride.

So I began writing The Chosen One from the Savior Project and discovered something profound. Even though I could see the entire story from beginning to end as if it were a movie in my mind, I had no idea how to translate that into words on paper. After a few attempts, I got as far as a couple of paragraphs and it looked like crap. It wasn’t anything like what I saw in my mind and it certainly wasn’t anything like Fantasy/SciFi books I’ve read. I realized that I didn’t know how to write. Frustration set in but the dreams continued. Yes, that’s where they all came from but that’ll be addressed later. So what was I to do?

Well, the first thing I did was to sulk and stay pissed for a while. That sure helped a lot. I finally decided I needed to learn in some organized fashion. I checked into classes at my alma mater, UVa. In the fall of 2007, I took my first Creative Writing course since my days in college way back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth – as my kids would say. I absolutely loved it. And it helped. Next week – Fritz the student.

10/29/13, Earth Time: 06:00 AM, EST, Tuesday – The Story of Terlokya-Beginnings

Greeting and salutations. This is Caslaikove and I’m going to tell you about Terlokya, but first, let me tell you about myself. I was born in Zenclyck, the Terk cultural center, and a thriving metropolis on the coast of the continent Sygon, planet Terlokya, in the Eck Solar System. I must say that it has always amazed me that Earthlings never named their Solar System. They always call it The Solar System, as if it is the only one. We named your particular system Cantera when we first visited eons ago. Yes, that’s right. We’ve been around for a long time. We live much longer than Earthlings, about 2.5 times as long. I’m 133 and look the age of a 40 year old from your planet. I spend much time with my two young friends, Ttocs and Lrak. Ttocs is a famous inventor who improved traveling at the SOD. Lrak is the Consultar, (head of the military), and I’m a writer … plus I sit on the Supreme Council. That makes me somewhat important.

Our lifetime expectancy is about 200 – 225 years. You may ask … if Terlokyans and Earthlings are both humans (alike in physical makeups) how can we live so long? It might have a lot to do with the fact that we are stronger. Our planet is slightly larger than yours, therefore our gravity is heavier. By constantly working under heavier gravitational constraints, our bodies build stronger muscles. Our air is cleaner. At one time it wasn’t because we were just like you … destructive to our environment, not managing our natural resources correctly, and constantly at war. Then we woke up.

10/24/13 repeat of 02/05/13

As promised -  “The Odyssey of this Writer”, the story of how I became a fantasy/sci-fi/romance writer, at least for the current 6 book series. Here's the link: http://fritz-franke.tumblr.com/. The story is fresh with only 2 paragraphs posted. Follow if you dare and click if you like. It's gonna be a heckava ride. You're going to think I'm insane. (That is if you don't already) ;)

02/05/13
So last week was the intro and I said I was gonna tell you how I finally began writing. This fellow was buying my car back in 2005 and while test driving it, with me riding shotgun, casual conversation led to the subject of “What do you do?” I went first and said I was in Information Technology. The guy acted surprised saying I didn’t appear to be that type of person, rather an artsy/creative type. I asked what he did and he said he was a writer. I said that I always wanted to be a writer. “Really?” was his response. “Got something to write about?” I said yes and proceeded to tell him the story of Chris Gates and the Savior Project – of course in an abbreviated form. Then I was telling him my baseball story and he stopped me and said, “Dude, you gotta write this stuff. It’s so new and fresh – not the rehashed crap that’s out there now.”

The fellow bought the car and I never saw him again. I was left with the thoughts and desire to write. I sat on that idea for a year and didn’t do anything except think about writing. One day in June of 2006, I hopped on my computer and made notes on all the different stories that I wanted to write. There wer 7 stories with the Savior Project series being 6 books. I sat back and remembered that all of these stories had been dreams – dreams that I felt I actually lived in. So I took a whack at beginning the first book from the Savior Project series, The Chosen One. After I began the first few sentences, I found out something. That’s for next week.
